Hi,
This may sound like a simple question, but it's been weighing on my mind. I will speak to an attorney but I just want some insight from 'real people'. My husband is verbally and emotionally abusive....never physically. Married 14 years, have 3 kids (9,6 &3). I will absolutely insist on what they call 'placement' (is this the right term?) I want my kids with me....I have been caring for them, been involved in all their extracurriculars (he hasn't), school (he hasn't) and working part time. His excuse is 'I work full time". Anyway, what are the chances I'll get them placed with me? Joint custody is fine, but I just want them placed with me and I really want to keep my home for their stability....I don't mind increasing my hours at work if I need to. Does anyone have any insight regarding this? I've been on this board previously and was told I would have to refinance and give him half the equity (about 60,000)....would that make my mortage go up? I'm in the medical field and $ is just not my fortay. Also, we have no other debt other than a 200/mo car payment. Thanks so much.
