Cut your losses or alimony?

I'm just curious here. I've seen alot of people post about alimony and stuff. How many of you are trying to get alimony from your ex's and how many just cut your losses and went your separate ways? I can understand wanting alimony if you have kids with your ex, but what if there are no kids involved? We didn't have kids, so we just split up our stuff and went our own ways. I wouldn't even think about asking for alimony and why should I? I work full time as he does. Just wondering what everyone else did.

I was all about cutting my losses! I just wanted out. I had a full time job and we didn't have children, so I didn't feel I was entitled to it. My lifestyle was not based on his income so I just didn't see the need.

When my stbx and I split, he'd been unemployed or under employed for nearly 2 years. He immediately went out and interviewed for an excellent job paying whe he was making when he was working to his potential.

Usually... as a generally rule, but not always.... alimony comes into play if you've been married for 10 or more years and there are either children that you've stopped working to stay home and parent or if you helped with his business.
