Her e-mail was brief and it did seem abrupt and a bit rude. Your response was lovely, you did a great job. You said what you needed to and didn't seem rude at all.
I guess I was lucky. I paid 2500.00 - got primary custody of my son, everything settled -no paralegals involved. I guess it makes a difference if your STBXH is a psycho or just a garden variety cheater. I got a lawyer who didn't try to milk me for everything I had - hugs to all of you out there!!!!
Thanks guys. She called FIRST thing this Am & was very nice ... i could tell she was nervous & had read my email. Turns out the documentation she was looking for, I SENT her - on July 27th! she didnt realize it. So, we are all set. Next step is court Sept 13th, & then hoping soon after we can settle .... for what he deserves ... what he put IN - 24% of our assets. I know thats WAY low for a 50/50 state .... but one can DREAM cant they?
I used to work for an attorney's office and quite often this happened. They tend to be short, to the point and sometimes it comes off as rude. I was in the position where I edited most things and they took my advice on what should and shouldn't be said.
I agree that after you spent so much money and time on this that she should be a little nicer.
Ah well.... my lawyer was also short, it was a pain, but I got used to it and I stopped being myself and turned on my "don't mess with me I know what I want" hat....lol.
I agree with Butterfly..... sometimes people in certain kinds of positions will really need to be somewhat abrupt.... and come across as uncaring to a certain degree.
