My darling ex-husband seems to think that there are bugs living inside the house. He claims that there were when he was living in the hosue 2 years ago, and that he got bitten up alive. No one else in the house did when he said he did, and at the time he was grilling outside every night. Now, our son has mosquito bites a lot lately. But he has been outside, and he had him outside for about 4 hours the other evening playing in the grass ... he seems to think that the bites would have showed up instantly ... that was Saturday. Today he has several bites .. on his arms, face, and hands. He picks him up from school today and i Know he's going to call me bitching about the bites .. and telling me that i need to bug bomb the house. . . and that he'll call CPS and insist that the bugs are in the house. HE did tell me he's going to call my dad and tell him that something has to be done because Clayton is being eaten alive in the house ... and tell him that it HAS to be fumigated or else. or else what i have no idea. I'm not protecting our son my having him getting bitten by bugs. Yes. I am yet again a bad mother.
Oh, and it's because of the "flea ridden dogs". Of course the dogs live in the back yard .. hardly ever come inside, and it's mosquito's that he's being bitten by ..

Buy mosqito repellent today. Then if Ex calls to complain, then you can have a positive answer, show that you care and are taking action. It might also be a good thing to just rule out fleas (since they can come into the house on child's clothes), by getting a safe spray and using it under the child's bed while the child is out of the house. We have indoor cats, and almost never any fleas. But the two times I did see one was in my DD's room. I HATE chemicals and poisons, I would have to be desperate to use an exterminator, but there are safe products that can serve as a deterrent. I would rather just drive the fleas away than see my child suffer an asthma attack from sleeping in a poison room.
Show the child how to use mosquito repellent properly (read all directions) or apply it for him yourself when he is going to go out. Many people (including me) swear by the B vitamins to repel mosquitos. When I take these vitamins, I can sit right next to someone else, and only they get bitten. Does your son take a vitamin supplement? There are also little electronic buzzers kids can wear.
Just another side note, if you give your kids garlic drops, it will keep the mosquitos away as well.
Mosquitos and fleas bite in different places.
