house and deed equity to your ex until the children are no longer minors? I want to keep my house but likely cannot buy him out at this time. I have been told this is sometimes allowed...???

My STBX and I had to sell the house. He owed a HUGE amount in back income taxes. Unfortunately, since we had filed taxes jointly, I was responsible for them also. The only way to pay them off was with the proceeds of the house. I went on to rent a nice apartment, and he purchased a new home.
However, a close friend of mine did get the house in her divorce settlement, and didn't even have to buy her ex out or agree to split the proceeds once the house is sold. So it CAN happen.

I approached moving as an adventure..... "you'll both have new bedrooms... and TWO houses!... a toothbrush at both places, special pillows...."
I also assured them that they'd still have time with both of us..... "mommy and daddy just can't live in the some house together any more."
Your attitude about whatever happens with the "stuff" will play a large part in how your children will adjust.
