Would I be a fool...?

My husband and I have decided to separate instead of divorcing right away and see if we might be able to work on things. He says he will pay child support during that time. Am I a fool to believe that he will do that? Should I get temporary orders to protect myself? He says he would never do that to our children, but who knows what people will do!

I would!

Having an agreement in WRITING protects YOU, HIM and your CHILDREN.

Oh no no no no ... you don't just trust him. You get a written separation agreement, as a minimum. Once he moves out -- in my state, that is disertion and you can trot yourself right to court and get support ordered, but frankly, doing it by agreement is better, but you really should have a written agreement, reviewed by a lawyer, signed, notarized, etc. And support should come as a payroll deduction, right to your checking account.
