Looking for a great baracuda kind of lawyer in NY.
I do not want to make this easy for him.
I don't think he has any legal grounds for the seperation/divorce.
What are the differences between the two in NY?
It's a very long sad, sad story.

Can't help you with lawyer referrals. Find a women's center with divorce support and ask for referrals. Talk to friends who are lawyers and ask them to ask around ... it takes awhile to find someone and you need to interview several.
You don't tell your story, so I can't have any perspective, but if there are children involved then I don't recommend vengeance as an approach--no one wins. In the end seeking fair treatment and just recompense is the way to go.
But, again, I don't know your circumstances.

My husband of less than a year filed seperation papers.
I don't want a divorce and I don't know how to fight it.
In NY State you need a legal reason for a divorce and I don't think he has one.
We seperated in Jan. because I found out he lied to me about his credit card debt.
I wanted time to think about his actions and know it affected me legally.
Well one thing led to another. He now has a girlfriend.. I found out just 6 weeks after we split.
I certainly don't want to make things easy for him.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I have recently been diagnosed with 2 types of cancer, which is the real reason behind this. He's afraid of the health cost that he may be responsible for.
I want to fight this for as long as I can.
