I'm overwhelmed and excited all at the same time. Sigh. I liked her. I liked her female associate lawyer. I am comfortable with them. It just seems so overwhelming. They believe the best strategy is to take things in stages. Get him to agree to a custody agreement, then move on to a property settlement. She agrees that I am at risk for liability since he's driving a car, that is in my name, and he doesn't have a license. So as soon as custody is agreed up (and I like some of the thoughts she had on this since he hasn't been doing much with the kids because of his drinking ramping up again and he doesn't have a "stable" place he's living--he's still in hotels) she'll begin working on the property settlement which will take away my liability.
Because of the things I told her about some erratic emails I've been getting

Glad you found an attorney you like - that is important.
Since the car is in your name and he doesn't have a license (was it taken away for drunk driving?) can't you forbid him from driving it?
