I have a friend who's husband just left her, she has two small children. He cleaned out their bank account and he's sending harassing e-mails to her at work. Her family has taken her husband's side. I do not know her husband. He is a manager at a major restaurant chain in town. I want to help, but don't know how. I have told her to save all e-mails and she could report the e-mails to her husband's district manager. She does not have any money, I have suggested Legal Aid. Any more advice you could give would be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

I wouldn't get the husband's work involved--there's not much they can do except fire him and then if he doesn't have a job, how is he going to pay child support? If they are actually threatening, she could call the police & get a restraining order. It is a good idea to save the emails. But what she really needs is a lawyer.

All she needs is the phone number of a good women's shelter.
