I called my stbx the other day to ask him when he would be removing the rest of his belongings from the garage and shed.

Why do you feel so sad and guilty? Probably because you have a heart! In my opinion, he wants to keep his stuff there as a way of keeping his foot in the door or as a reminder to you that he exists. Do not under any circumstances feel guilt, after all, he's the one who wanted a divorce and he got precisely what he asked for. I would stick to my guns and make him get his stuff out asap.

I think it's hard not to feel sad about the breakup of a long marriage, esp. when you have children together, and guilty when you're not used to standing up for yourself.

Honestly, I think it's part of the grieving and growth process. And probably part of being a woman & mother too--guilt comes easy to us. You're not catholic too, are you? LOL!

And remember, they've done such a number on our psyches...it was a long marriage and awful relationship for so long...you need time to get over it.

My STBX doesn't "get" it either about getting his stuff out of the house, out of the bedroom drawers, out of the basement. He thinks I'm a storage unit. Stick to your guns, I am...we deserve to be able to move on, without their stuff.

Also, maybe he's gotten wind of your new BF and he's being ornery because he doesn't think/want you to be happy. You know, you need to pine for him eternally--he can move on, you can't.

Hang in there Buckeye!
