I want my daughter and I to be as well adjusted as we can to what lies ahead for us.

I'm usually the one who feels compelled to mention a book in practically every post I make here (confessed bookaholic that I am - lol), and while I can offer

Not knowing what your situation is, we have 2 really good books for our kids. It's not your fault, Koko Bear and Two Homes. The Koko bear book really hits on a lot of the big issues including one that we have already had happen in the 1st week of STBX moving out. My son left his hat in dad's car and he was very upset. Koko Bear even talks about that kind of thing happening and we have referenced several things so far in that book with our 5 year old. The only thing I do not like about it is that it uses the word divorce and we had managed to not use that word before this.

Two Homes is really good too because it talks about how your parents love you no matter where you are and that it is ok to love both of their parents even when they are not where you are.

For the parents: I have only read 1 book so far and it is Good Parenting Through Your Divorce. It is good but really works on the presumption that each parent is 100% into making this the "best divorce" that it can be, which is not always the case. Both my STBX and I read this and felt it was good, not great. I would get it from the library before buying it.

I don't have great ideas for your daughter but for yourself I have recently read 'Congratulations on you divorce' which I found great and another good book is Leaving Him Behind

I found the first to be easy to read and there were many pages that were amazingly relevant to me

Good luck and Hugs

For my daughter, who is 3 1/2, I got On My Own Two Feet, which I found at Barnes & Noble. I liked it because the text is simply stated (good I think for younger children). STBX and I actually read it to her together when we first explained to her that Daddy wasn't going to live at home anymore.
