What are your favorite (subtle and not-so-subtle) signs that fall is in the air? Guys playing football? Cardigans and trench coats? Apple cider and pumpkin soup? What tells you that summer is over and fall has arrived?
LOL....ya....what you said.

On the plus side, there are cooler temps (especially appreciated at night) and changing leaves.

When I was living in Italy, Fall was in the air when we'd start to see all the adverts for the food fairs around Tuscany. Being able to cook on the stove again would also signal the end of summer, and we'd celebrate that with a party at our place (summers would just be too hot to cook and I would survive on either cheese and salads, take-outs and eating in restaurants).
Fall would officially be in the air when our friends would have the vendemmia party at their castle (end of the grape-picking season). That would be in October, when the air would already be cooler. Friends would come from all over and party until the early morning, and stay on for brunch and then sometimes for dinner, too.
