You are certainly not being high maintenance. You have every right to be angry. I know I would be. And I feel sorry for your daughter. I hope the rest of her vacation with her dad is better for her.

You have every right to be mad!!!

Why would they leave her alone in a strange city in a hotel???? She is ONLY 11- capable or not, here in Canada you cannot leave a child under 12 alone. What if some pervert knocked on the door pretending to be housekeeping? Sorry to scare you, but I watch enough crime shows to be scared into thinking of those things. Someone watching the three of them show up and seeing two leave- would know that she may be alone upstairs.

Now unless her dad and aunt got run over, there is no reason why they couldn't have at least called to say why they were running behind. Was there a huge traffic jam, forest fire, abduction by aliens? You did not send your daughter to Colorado to hang around in a hotel room. Why did they not bring her to see the flowers?

And I cannot believe the hotel treating her that way! Poor thing, I hope she's ok. To not bend the rules a little to make sure a minor gets a meal is pretty poor on the hotel's side. Perhaps you could call and speak to the manager directly?

Did they ever make it back? Did they say why they were delayed and didn't care to give her a call?

I certainly would be weary of letting her go on another visit any time soon....

You are right to be mad. They should have had more consideration for this child. Eleven and independent or not, she had no way of eating. Doesn't he have a cell phone she could have called? I happen to feel like this is totally uncalled for and no child should be left in a hotel room alone for any amount of time. Period.

You have every right to be mad Kim! I would of totally freaked out! At least from the sound of your post both you and your dd handled it well? What was the final answer on what happened? You are definitely not overreacting, this should never happen...she is a minor in a strange place. spending time with her dad! She should be of the utmost imporatnnce in his life during those five days! Hope all worked out well?

I agree! I would be upset, not only at the dad and Aunt, but at the hotel as well! That is lousy customer service! And very irresponsible behavior on Dad's part. I don't think you're being high maintenance at all! Both parties would be getting an earful from me!

I work in the hospitality business and the response you got from the hotel was completely inappropriate. I don’t care if they don’t start serving food until midnight. They can make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for a child! I strongly encourage you to write a letter to the Hotel Manager detailing your concerns and your disappointment. You should get some resolution from it.

Left his eleven year old alone for HOURS without FOOD!!!

Holy Crap! I'd have someone down there in heartbeat to be sure she was fed (hotel employee goes to McD's and get's a fat credit card tip or SOMETHING) and then I'd be CERTAIN dad heard about it. Note would be taken of date and circumstances with a clear warning to him to not allow it to happen again.

OMG! I am steamed myself just thinking how mad I'd be.

You are NOT overreacting!
