what happened to Wednesday Woes?

I stopped taking birth control pills last month after months of doing a NOT so good job of taking them. (I'd forget 2 days in a row, than take three all together, etc...) I admit, by my own doing, that I sucked at it and therefore have not had a real period for almost 4 months. Well, now...I am having the period from HELL!!!!! It has come and with a vengeance!
To make matters worse, I am anemic. So this monster period is causing me all sorts of issues, such as absolute zero energy, dizziness and headaches.
I'm hoping by next month things will be back to normal.

D is getting "snipped" tomorrow. I love him for doing it so that I will no longer have to be on the pill, but if it turns out I have to stay on them because of my anemia I will cry!
urgh!

Awwwww, (((Gabriella))))!
Well, the good news is that your period did come.
(((((HUG)))))
That really stinks Gabriella. I am sorry you are feeling miserable. But GOSH!! You lucky girl! I am also not so great with my pills. The result is that most times when J and I fool around he has to ask me if he needs to go grab a condom. I HATE being asked that in the moment. LOL
I can't wait till we know for sure what we're doing and J can get the snip (ooohhh, he'd be horrified to see it written out like that. LOL) I am sure it'll be a few years though.
Hugs. Take Mag's advice and have a steak. YUM!
So sorry to hear you're having these troubles.
I was on the patch from shortly after Alex's birth until . . . about February. I have no complaints about it - with the exception that I did have a minor skin irritation from the glue on the patch. Nothing severe - I just had to constantly switch where I was wearing it - and would have to treat the skin where it was the week before with cortizone. And I couldn't wear it on my butt - at all - because my butt broke out TERRIBLE - and I didn't want to wear it on my shoulder or arm because I'm always swimming or in a silk t or something. I really wanted to try the ring - but because of my history with cervical cancer - I'm not a good candidate. In April - my doctor told me that if I wanted to try it - I could. OH MY GOSH - I LOVE IT. You insert it the Sunday after your period - three weeks later you take it out. You have your period. The next Sunday you put it back in. THAT IS IT! AND - I've never had better periods! The estrogen level is SOOOOOOOOOO low - - - because it doesn't have to go through your digestive track and into your blood stream - it's amazing. No nauseaus, no back aches, no pms, and SERIOUSLY, a 3 day, light, barely bleeding period. I am anemic - I've been on iron supplements for years and years (had to give myself shots at one point in time) and I don't experience the fatigue during my period now like I used to. It's been amazing. And VERY LITTLE to remember!
There are so many other options - check into them!

Hi Min
Here I go again, with one of my dumb questions...haha.
Is the ring the same as an IUD?
Tara, my sister left the shot for Nuvaring. She LOVES it. Same experience as Mindy's. If I may, I'll answer for her. The ring is just a little "jelly ring" (remember jelly bracelets? Much the same) and it just sort of hangs out around your cervix. An IUD requires a doctors visit to insert and has more physical risks (worries of puncture's and such). The IUD is VERY non-invasive.
I am still only on the mini pill (estrogen has in the past done a number on me, and the mini pill is progestin only) but if and when I get sick of worrying about this danged "Same time every single day or you have to use back up" pill, I will request the ring because I know the estrogen won't hit my blood stream directly.

If it's something you are interested in . . . . go to www.nuvaring.com - GREAT, very informative website.
There are different forms of IUD's - and due to the fact that I have an "abnormal uterus" - it isn't an option for me - so I've never researched them. At all. I've never tried the shots - I know WAY too many people that had horrific experiences with them - I know 2 or 3 that swear by them - but I won't risk it - especially from a MENTAL health standpoint.
The 3 day, super light periods have been amazing. The estrogen level has been perfectly controlling my endo., it's the most amazing thing I've ever been on. I will never stop using it - unless I'm forced or I hit menopause!! LOL

It will cost me about $45 every month if I pay for it myself.I can’t afford it this year. But next year, if it looks like I’m going to have to keep doing something to control my periods, I will put money in my health flex plan for it.
Meantime, I am going to pray that Maggie is right and everything will smooth out with time and go have that steak! :)
Thanks to all of you for making me feel better.
p.s. lighter today…it’s lasted a WEEK, but it’s almost over. YAY!
I can understand not being able to afford it - I've been there with other things. Big hugs! Have a nice steak, a glass of red wine (always helps me) and snuggle up to a hot water bottle or heating pad! I hope given some time no hormones, your body evens out entirely and you don't anything at all!
