My BF -SM too - has Leukemia

I have 2 best friends - Heidi whom I have know since 6th grade and Carrie whom took over Heidi's "spot" when she moved away after 9th grade. I consider them more sisters to me than my sisters. Carrie lives in TN now and that makes it harder - we talk every 2 weeks and make it a point to hang out everytime she is up here for family things. I just saw her a little less than a month ago. We went out and had fun.

Apparently she hadn't been feeling right and she had bruises on her body that came easily and never went away. Just this month. So finally she went in to her GP and the next day was called to go to the hospital immediately (today) I just spoke with her in the hopital where she will be for the next month. They know it is Leukemia but not what kind yet. They will know tomorrow and she will begin chemo as early as tomorrow. They were taking her in for the "port" insertion.

She is also a single mother and Ondrea was born in August of 2002. Carrie has no contact with the father or his family and she doesn't even know where he is as he made it clear he wanted nothing to do with her. Carrie's mother and father are very supportive and local there in TN however her mother will be going in to get cancer taken from her uterus. What a mess. She is living my worst nightmare - what I lay awake ar night and worry and cry over. It is happening to HER! I am glad Carrie is close with her family and has a strong support system down there.

Please send some prayers to her - Carrie is a fantastic person who has a master's degree in occupational therapy and helps small children with disabilities and people who have had strokes learn to comminicate again. She has a significantly mentally disabled sister that she has helped care for her entire life. Life really isn't fair is it? :( Her poor family.... I don't even know what to do. I may very well go to TN soon though. )

I was up most the night crying.

My prayers and thoughts are with all involved. They can do a lot with cancer and leukemia now - I just hope this will have a light at the end of the tunnel. It will be a long road for sure.

Laura:

My thoughts and prayers are with your friend, her family and with you. Being someone who had to deal with the news of her mom having a terminal illness, I know what you are going through. Lots of hugs.
