As an update, Wednesday was a heck of a day. While I was at work, we had terrible storms (mini tornadoes) go through my town. I was fortunate that my house was ok, but there was a lot of damage around me. Driving home, it looked like something from a disaster movie. I came home to no electricity, and we didnt' get it back on until last night. I took my kids out for dinner Wednesday. That gave me a chance to talk to them about Grandma's illness. Everyone was right -- my kids were great. They asked a lot of questions, and I answered them the best I could. The bottom line is that Grandma is Grandma, and they're going to love her, no matter what. How awesome is that! My dad called me last night to see how I weathered the storm. I asked him how mom was. Mom had just had another test that day, and she has two more to go. My dad got some information about the disease off the internet from his neighbor. I asked him if he read it and how he was handling it. He's handling it great. He's going to take one day at a time, and not get flipped out about things right now. That's a great way to be, and I'm going to try to do the same thing. The initial shock has worn off. I'm just going to keep praying and spend as much quality time with my mom as I can and help my dad out too. Hopefully I can count on my three sisters as well.
Thanks again for all the well wishes, and I will keep everyone posted.

Donna, I'm glad to hear that things are looking a bit better for you and your family.
((((Donna))))
I am SO glad you found some support and a little comfort here. You are ABSOLOUTELY right to not hesitate to post a vent/hurt/good report/silly thing that you want to share. I am glad you're getting more comfortable.
That is great news that you're dad is doing so well. It's important that HE be able to stay in a "one day at a time" frame of mind. That will be a great comfort for all of you if he can stay so strong.
YAY on the kids and their great reaction!!!
