A few great things came out of the weekend. First of all, Shane got a HUGE commission check even though he had advanced $900 against it on the first, so a bunch of his commission was left to pay him Friday. We did some Christmas shopping for Dylan and got his done. He'll like his stuff. We found some cool things for him that I never thought of....that's why you take a man to buy for boys. Men are like little kids and Shane had a blast picking things out.
The other part of the weekend that was MAJOR was Emily kicked me hard enough to where I could feel her so I called Shane over yesterday to the couch and he could feel it. Ever since then, he's been touching me and he really seems totally in love with this baby. He's been so good ever since we got the results of the ultrasound and has rubbed my belly and now that he can feel her, he's just smiling and happy regardless of how stressful all of this has been with the house.
He's been great and I'm so proud of us for getting thru this. We'll make it thru anything now that we've survived this.
Thanks to all of you for the support!
Mel

Men are like little kids and Shane had a blast picking things out. .. LOL! I remember the first year that I took Jas to shop for Ty with me. It was SO MUCH more fun just watching him.
Congrats on the kick!!!! Men are ALWAYS behind on the excitment for the baby, Mel. That's to be expected. In fact, don't be surprised if the excitement for Shane wears off for a bit. It usually takes them till just before the baby comes to connect w/the idea of being excited. But I
I loved taking Shane to Toys R Us. He is so cute in there. He just guided me all over looking with huge eyes at all the stuff. I saw a gun called, "Snot Shot" that is like a big water pistol and it shoots slime out. I pointed it out..big mistake....and Shane said, "COOL!" Yes, we bought it. He couldn't resist. It wasn't expensive at all, but it's gonna be gross. Of course that is an OUTSIDE toy and they sell refills of the "snot". The biggest thing we got him besides a race track set is that Terrain Twister RC car. He asked for one and I actually forgot about it and I was gonna get it if I could afford nothing else because he specifically asked for one. I found a green one, which is his favorite color and he will love it. I went alone yesterday to grab that and a battery for it and when I brought it home, Shane was all about it. He wants to play too.
I think that any ladies out there that are single and have sons should at least recruit a male friend to go holiday shopping with them for their sons because they really do help pick some awesome gifts. I ended up buying far off from what I would have if I didn't have Shane there. And had fun watchng him in the process!

I totally agree on the male recruiting. Fabulous idea Mel!
I am so excited and happy for you that Shane is getting into the whole pregnancy thing. I know how important it was for me, and I remember how sad I was not having anyone share the moments during my pregnancy's. Big hugs to you and I am so thrilled for you! Feeling the baby inside of you now brings more of a realization, doesn't it?
What I love most is how he's not only acknowledging there is a baby, but that it's a girl. I was so worried about him being disappointed in that. You know how men are...most want sons. But he has Dylan, which he totally is cool with and loves him as his own.
Last night, they BBQed after work and he got home around 10. I was alseep in the recliner and Dylan was in bed already and Shane woke me up and rubbed my tummy and said, "Has she been kicking some more?" I really loved that.

You are truly in the sweetest part of a new child - hopefully by now the fatigue and sickness are gone. You are feeling the baby and not too big to get around. I don't think it gets better than that. Certainly a time of peace before the "storm" of baby/toddler!!
Enjoy - what bliss!!!
