Looking to see if you're around today.

I just got up and I'm going to get ready to go out and hang out at Barnes and Noble (I do that all the time, West...never yet met anyone there, but I love to read the books and magazines and have a good cup of chai or coffee).

I have decided we're having Mexican for Christmas. We don't like turkey and we had ham, traditional, stuff for Thanksgiving when my brother was here. Ever since the posada service I've had a craving for good tostadas, so I'm going to fix a bunch of them.

I wonder what dessert I want to have. I'm not wild about flan...maybe some cake. Hey I think I'll get a PINATA! :)

FELIZ NAVIDAD! y PROSPERO AN(tilda)O!

Hi hi!!! Yep, I am here. And your day sounds nice

I PERSONALLY HAVE met someone at Barnes and Noble. But it was unsolicited and he followed me around the store and ask for my number and I finally fake numbered him and got out of there!!! LOL

You should have ENCHILADAS for me! I LOVE those, but I'll be having ham dinner tomorrow.

well, they've RUINED my favorite people watching place. I SWEAR...I heard two guys discussing the report that it was a good "pick up" place. And not 5 minutes later a big, tall, blond guy (I mean 65 inch waist, hard to ignore, but I did it) came up to 4 feet from where I was sitting and stood there waiting for me to notice him!!! ACK!! I would NOT look. At one point he POSED...hand on hip, other hand up on top of book shelf. After about 10 MINUTES (no lie) he moved on. GAK...I DON'T go there to meet people. This is VERY disturbing. :)

I like people watching, but if they're there to "make eye contact" it RUINS it! LOL

I got two Mexican cookbooks.

I'm going to make tostadas with cream sauce and salsa, and cucumber avacado salad, and I got sugar cookies with big poinsettia on top of them in beautiful frosting, and pumpkin pie for the traditionalists in the house.

I may make some chimchangas and rice, too.

it will be good!

Oh my goodness - that is too crazy that he posed!! Like he things an intelligent female would be attracted by that??

Oh well. At least you had something to laugh at!

Were you in the fiction section? I was wondering why they said that was a good section. I would be more inclined to be in the fitness magazine section or computer section - this way at least you know their interests!! ;-)

actualy I was having a gingerbread latte, sitting at a table where the starbucks is IN Barnes and NOble. He was standing at the cookbook section, showing NO interest in the books. Gaggy. The guys behind me had been talking about the article, and when he came up I heard one of them whisper 'he's checking somebody out, look!' and then when he walked away the guy said 'oh, he's moving on' ACKKKK!

I wanted to turn around and say 'maybe it's NOT a good pick up joint, huh?' People who think no one else hears what they say drive me crazy. LOL

the Mexican meal was GREAT. And I have leftovers for tomorrow.

How are you doing?

*runs screaming from the coffee bar!!!*

Well, I may want to cool the Barnes and Noble habit for awhile.

Today I was having my usual latte, looking at magazines and people watching. I SWEAR there were 4 or 5 men there making EYE contact. Which they normally DON't do...I mean, people watching is no fun there any more.

One guy kept going past me from a distance and giving me what I'm sure he though were "smouldering stares"...I finally couldn't deal with it, got up and threw away my cup. He was walking right up to me, the "look" on his face, ...I looked at him, rolled my eyes, shook my head and walked the OTHER way.

If people have met there, because of shared interests and conversations over books, that's WONDERFUL. But with guys trolling the shelves for women instead of books...ICKY ICKY POO! I could go to a bar if I wanted to ignore that kind of stuff...*sigh*

Hey Candi,

I just read both your posts. I know what you mean about "the look" - that is the look like I don't care what is in your head or who you are, I just want to f--- you."

There is a big difference between meeting someone casually, striking up a conversation, enjoying maybe a bit of a look and guys looking for a cheap thrill.

Hopefully your bookstore will go back to normal in a week or two. One thing about these types - they usually have a short attention span.

Maybe you should consider the shoe department? Today I was trying on boots in Bloomingdales and the salesman said he wanted to know what I am doing after shopping because I looked like a supermodel in those boots!! He even offered to escort me to the third floor to kitchen supplies. He was nice - but unfortunately a dfferent ethnic background and I am not open to that or attracted. But it is the thought that counts...

I am glad to hear your Mexican dinner was a success. I think that was a great and delicious idea.

Hmm, shoe dept? Nah...I'd rather go self service. :)

I do hope things go back to normal soon.

And yes that is EXACTly the look...damn, what is wrong with those guys?! Like that's what I go to B&N for?!!!

Tonight I went to the bilingual church and talked to the pastor about me teaching english. I start in 2 weeks and I am so excited, AND nervous. :) I got to meet a few people tonight, and someone said "thank you" already...I haven't even started teaching!
They are really sweet people.
