We want to hear all about your day! Share here please. Good Bad and Ugly all welcome. I know some times there are things that happen that you just really need to explode about. We're all ears (or eyes. Whatever. ;)

It was mediocre I guess. I tried to make Christmas Eve with dd special but it just wasn't. She liked her presents but there weren't that many (most of what I bought ended up in the Santa pile at her dad's house). We went to a friends house in the afternoon and it was okay. Then we had a sort of sad last few hours before her dad picked her up. I don't think she was sad, but I was. I should have rented us a christmas movie to watch or something because it was late when her dad got there and she was too awake to go to sleep, but too tired to really play. It was nice to talk to her Christmas morning, she was so cute on the phone after opening all her gifts. All the stuff about my bf is at the end of my 'spending christmas alone' thread so I won't repeat all that here.
Christmas day the morning was fine. I had planned somethings to do, mainly some online training courses I needed to complete. I cleaned and then took a nap, but my DSL ended up going out late Saturday morning and wasn't up until Sunday morning. I had some books from the library but mostly I napped because I was sick most of the day Saturday and reading was giving me a headache. I did get my training courses done on Sunday, so that was good.
I must admit, I've never been so happy to be wrong. Christmas was nice, really nice. I left Christmas Eve at 830 AM to get Dylan and got back around 1. Shane didn't go with me. He had "things to take care of". Yes, he played a dirty trick on me. I thought he had hoarded away a few bucks from bonus checks, but later found out by seeing the ticket, he had pawned his father's Rolex and pistol (the one's we just got out of pawn in August) to buy me a nice gift and to add to Dylan's already overflowing Christmas gifts. I was so upset though because I had nothing for him. Just a letter I wrote to him that he read the night before. He had some cash left, so I bought my parents a little something and I realized I had gift cards from Bed Bath and Beyond and I got him against his will, a new saucier and a nice knife. It didn't cost NEAR what that Brighton purse he got me did, but it didn't matter. And he loved the pan and knife and has used it all weekend. And he knows to expect the rest later. He will go with me to pick the knives. He said he wants to do it that way so he gets the exact one's he's been eyeing.
My parents came over Christmas Eve and brought tons of things for Dylan and Shane cooked a huge meal of steaks, baked potatoes, green beans and corn on the cob. He also made french bread with lots of homemade garlic topping and we had delicious salads too. We let D open a couple of presents and we put cookies on a Santa plate and some milk out and I read him "The Night Before Christmas" and sent him off to bed. The next morning, we got up and he was so overwhelmed by the toys. We stayed up til almost 2 putting it all together. I'll post pics on my photo site later. He got a huge electric race track that he loves plus a real eletric guitar for children. He can plug it in to Shane's amp or just use the batteries. It's so cute. He also got tons of actions figures, Hot Wheels, etc. And a Terrain Twister. That thing is so cool!
After my folks left, we packed up and went to Fort Worth to see his mom and family. Over there, we ate some good food, visited and opened lots of nice gifts. She bought his brother and us matching video cameras and tri-pods plus numerous other things. ANd Dylan once again made out like a bandit. After all the gift giving was done and we had finally settled down, Shane's Uncle Tom read from the new Bible he recieved called, "The Message Remix" about Christmas and the true reason we celebrate. A nice way to end the night.
At about 10, we left to come home and got home close to 1 in the morning and went right to bed. And we rested some yesterday and played with Dylan's toys Shane and I took time out "to be alone" and we all went to the grocery store and bought tons of food to stock our shelves. Just in case on the off chance he doesn't get paid on the first, but we do expect he will.
Altogether, it was a nice time. Great that it's over. The tree is down and the floor is swept and we're back to normal already. I'm tired and I went back to bed after Shane left for work today. Now just waiting for the cable guy to come see why the cable jack in our bedroom isn't working.
Hugs!
Mel

My holiday weekend was nice - my ds kept in contact by phone and his voice was strong yesterday and I can tell he is ready to come home.
I managed to have a memorable time with my parents on Xmas eve and wiht my sister's family on Christmas day. And best of all I got time to myself for a luxurious bubble bath and shopping. I treated myself to boots and a food processor.
It was warm enough on Xmas morning to take a 10 mile run from my parents house to the beach. That was my own present. I focused on how happy I am to be this fit. The ocean was beautiful. Flat, like glass, with the sun coming up and the sand so soft. There was a beautiful pelican who was crashing into the water to catch fish.
This morning I got to run with my coach.
So all is well. Another holiday done and survived!!
This holiday there wasn't much bad or ugly, mostly all good. My exh picked up kids up Thursday afternoon while I was at work and I had my evening free. I saw Mark Thursday night. It was so good to see him. I had a fantastic time, and it was a great way to start off the weekend. I'm only mentioning that now because six months from now if I'm crying in my beer, I can look back to Christmas and remember what a great time I had with him. You guys can remind me of that too. On Christmas Eve, I went to dinner with a friend close to where my exh lives so that I could pick the kids up when I was done. Dinner was very nice, and, much to my surprise, she bought me the Bon Jovi Box Set, which I would have never expected because it's very expensive, and I know she couldn't afford it. I was very touched. Then I picked up my kids, and they were sooo excited to see me. When I got home, I put them to bed and then set the presents out. Christmas morning was definitely the best for me. I just loved seeing them open their stuff. It was priceless to see them open their two big gifts: Alex - a Gameboy Advance SP; and Katie: an American Girl doll. Alex hasn't stopped playing with his Gameboy, and Katie hasn't put her doll down. They played for a while, then we got dressed and went to my mom and dad's for dinner and presents with my whole family (see my other post). On Sunday, we never left the house. I cleaned and did laundry, in between playing with them and their new stuff. Alex was surprised that I actually could beat him at a video game. What a great weekend. Probably the nicest Christmases I had in a long time.
Donna
Donna that sounds great!
I am glad you had a great evening with Mark.
I LOVE this! Everyone having such nice Christmases. Even when they aren't ideal, there have been great things about them.
Bay, I still want to hear how wedding plans are going! I am thrilled that your DF was able to help you get over the blues and cheer you up. What a good man. Great that the "sleep over" went well! I am very impressed that this is the first time. You've been dating for at least 3 years, haven't you?
((((Hug))))
I am sorry it was only mediocre, but it sounds like you still made the best of things. Now, on to January and trying to keep ourselves busy through the long winter evenings huh? Any big plans? What kind of training course are you working on?
Mel, this is an excellent report!!!!
And a good lesson to all of us to remember that even if things are beginning to look like they won't meet our expectations, take a deep breath and be ready to be flexible and be surprised!
Dylan's new toys sound great ! Fun to play with him too huh? I'll bet Shane is a big kid and loves playing with his new toys. ;)
