New Years is Coming! Any plans?
| Wed, 12-29-2004 - 2:11pm |
I always HATE New Years. It's usually such let down. But I am hoping that my Christmas was an omen of good things and New Years will be fun too.
Ty wants to go BOWLING. Of all things. That sounded fun to J and I too, so at least the 3 of us (and anyone else we can drag along) will probably do that. Does anyone know if I shouldn't do that now that I am preg? It's not out of the ordinary.
Anyway, what is everyone else up to? Parties? Staying in with a bubble bath and some sparkly?

This is a good question. Usually I stay home with my son. It is funny how the ex always wants to trade off every other year for Xmas or TG but not for NYE. At any rate, that is his loss.
Usually my sister is selfish and invites my parents to her house for NYE and they never invite me or even ask me anything about that holiday. I remember crying last year on New Year's Day because my parents stayed with them New Year's Eve and all day New Year's Day and then didn't come to my house until 4PM in the afternoon on New Year's Day.
But this year, at Xmas time, when they weren't thinking about it, I asked them all what they were doing for NYE and made it clear that I want to be included and that we should do something good for everyone. This means I am not going to go to some hoity toity restaurant I cannot afford!!!! And I want to include the kids since my son does enjoy her children which are his cousins.
I might sound severe but ever since I moved to FL 5 years ago my sister has played this power struggle with my parents. Since she doesn't work and has a full time nanny she has a lot more time and money. Somehow they always seem to favor her and this worsened after my divorce. Usually they make plans on the holidays and then announce those plans to me and I always feel like the third wheel and like they make plans without any regards to what I would like.
I am making an attempt to change this. We will see!!
I use an 8 pound ball. It's my own ball (yeah I'm redneck and used to bowl regularly on a league and I SUCK!!) I think that's alright. Just a lighter ball and if you feel tired, stop.
We're going to Shane's aunt's house. Her youngest son and his family are coming in. I've never met them. We originally were supposed to go to a friend's house, but when we heard Michael was coming, we knew we needed to be here. Plus it's his birthday. Shane will be trying to find a way to sneak beer to the party because his aunt and uncle don't serve alcohol. But I'm sure the guys will manage to get their Shiner Bock Beer!
