"No kank you!"

So today was my two year old's FIRST DAY of day care. He went a half day. TT dropped him off this morning, and called me from the parking lot in tears. He said Alex looked petrified, was walking around crying, and that he felt TERRIBLE abandoning him there. He said "I KNOW this will be good for him - but I just want to go in there and get him and take him right to Mimi's (my mom's) house!"

My mom picked him up at noon - lunch time - we thought half-days for the first few weeks might make it easier. She called to fill me in. She said his teacher said that he would play, then cry. Play, then cry. Play, then cry. And just so fearful. And never play with the other kids, just with certain toys, by himself. She said the kids would approach him and try to soothe him and tell him "'s'ok!" and he would walk away in tears. He RAN to my mom and cried hysterical tears of joy when she picked him up. She was driving home with him and said "did you have fun, Alex? Did you like playing with all of the kids and the new toys?" To which he responded "No Kank You, Mimi! No Kank You!"

Poor little guy!

Awwww poor guy! I can imagine if he's never been in this type of situation it is new and he would rather not be there. But there are lots of positive things to it and hopefully he'll notice those in the next few days. He might have noticed the deer in headlights look on TT's face when he left, so stay positive and maybe he'll follow suit? I hope tomorrow is better for all your sakes!

That would wrench my heart!! Oh gosh - he sounds so cute and so so so sweet. There is nothing better than a tiny little boy.

My son had a hard adjustment with school too - he was always so close to me and it was hard for him. But now he loves it so there is hope!!

And half days are good!! :-)

Thanks for sharing his cute story and the "no kank you!"

I feel awfully bad for him, but Min, I can just picture that little guy saying "No Kank You!!!" and it cracks me up. He must be a hilarious little man. ;)

Ohhh! I don't know whether to cry or laugh. How cute and sad at the same time. poor little guy! I never went through that (Thank God!)with my two. They both did daycare but Catrice loved it and she had a little friend her age so it was like going to her friend's house and Connor was an infant when he went so he never even knew. ;) I could not have been as brave as TT must have been to leave him with the tears. Did you have TT bring him on purpose? If so, good plan! haha. We mama bears do not let go easy!
But he will adjust, I'm sure. By next week he'll probably be looking forward to going and playing with the other kids!

Hang in there!

Yes and no.

TT dropped him off this morning and said the minute he saw the BUILDING he started freaking out! "No, kank you, Daddy! Iwa (I want) Mimi! No kank you! No kank you!" And TT had to carry him in, his teacher had to physically pry him from TT and walked straight outside with him and TT left. I offered last night to take Alex this morning, and TT said he could handle it. This morning he called me and said "YOU are taking him tomorrow!"

My mom picked him up at 11:30. She said when she got there, he was sitting quietly at the table with the kids while they were eating, clutching his bunny. She walked in and he turned around and saw her and IMMEDIATELY ran to get his coat and his backpack - yelling "MIMI! MIMI! Kank you, Mimi! Mimi!" LOL Too cute. She said his teacher told her that he was much better today. That he interacted a little bit with the other kids today, and only cried twice, both times at diaper changes (nothing new there!) but that he refused food. Told them "no, kank you" about lunch. He got to Mimi's house and ate immediately and is in a very good mood.

Poor little thing! We ALL keep telling ourselves "this is good for him, this will help him, he NEEDS this!" but we all just want to rescue him!

Awwww! Hang in there. I've had dd pried off me a couple times and it kills me. I used to go hide after dropping her off so that I could at least hear her, and then I'd wait until she stopped crying (usually didn't take too long, and after a while the crying became just for my benefit). Then once I knew she was okay I'd go off to work. I'm glad day 2 was a little better, that means it will keep improving!
