Well, you certainly will have a lot of choices/decisions. I will try to explain the nuts and bolts and tell you who I use for each stage.

You are creating a simple set of documents so that when people type a web address into a browser they can find out about you.

First you need a domain name - something like www.kimsexcellentcare.com - it has to be a name that is not taken. I use joker.com for this service - they are very cheap. They allow you to search to see what is available and then for about $12 per year they let you use that name. Don't pay more than that amount for that service.

Then you need a domain host - this is a computer where all of the files for the site will be held. You really can't do this yourself. I use www.futurequest.com because they are very reliable and very computer literate. Also, they have a bulletin board like these here where all of their customers can communiate. The cost for this for something basic is like $10 per month.

Next you need to create the pages that people see when they come to your site or have someone do this for you. I have a techie who is not that expensive and he can do this easily - I highly recommend that so it looks professional. I would estimate that cost to be around $200. There are programs that allow you to create this - I am not up on those - but I know you could probably come up with something basic in Word.

If you do it yourself you will need a program to upload the files to your website. This is called ftp - there are free programs you can download. The one I use is called ipswitch.

I hope this helps - feel free to ask questions. And good luck - whatever you choose we will all love to see it!!
