Me: shrimpy (41) in TX panhandle with perfect Fall weather right now
Kids: MonkeyButt (almost 9) and MonkeyBunny (6.5)
Pets: 1 dog, 1 cat, 1 turtle, lots of dust bunnies
Dating status: still with Hiker (51) and going well! We first met online and have been dating for just over a year. I'm sticking to my plan of just enjoying the dating ride and not rushing into ANYTHING, but just slowly building our relationship. So far, so good! :-)

I'm excited right now that I'm getting the kids to eat sweet potatoes by cutting it up into strips and using seasoned fish fry, I made them look like french fries. Sneaky, but if it works... I'm going with it! Yay for incognito veggies. ;-)

I'm also excited that MonkeyBunny just about read one early-reader book out loud to me, by himself as I was cooking!!! He usually resists reading out loud or asks me to read TO him. This was the first time he read to ME and did it without hardly any help at all! It happens to be "Clifford's Christmas" and I'm so proud of him!!!

And then I was REALLY excited that MonkeyButt (who has cerebral palsy and is delayed in his learning, functions at Kindergarten level) was able to almost read another book all by himself as well! I told him he couldn't play on the computer without reading a book first (just like MonkeyBunny had to do)- and I gave him a simple one that MonkeyBunny brought home- a really, really early reader- and MonkeyButt got through it!!! Yay for him!! He usually gets frustrated before he gets to page 2 and quits. Or he loses interest LONG before he gets to the end. But today he made it through a whole book! I'm so proud of him, too!

Work is going well, keeping me busy, busy, busy. I'm also working on a quilt with my Mom and a cross-stitch project on my own... so yeah, busy even with what little free time I have!

Moody (25), mom-bot to Android (7) and the Butterfly (5). We're in upstate NY. No pets, unless you count dustbunnies. We're not quite at the naming them stage yet, though ;-)
The kids have more dates than I do. So, theirs are PLAY dates, but typically the men I've met lately only play at being adult anyhow, so really, it's basically the same thing, right?
Update- school's going well (better for me than I had feared) for all of us. I'm still busting my tail at work, have applied for another position in my company, they'll begin interviews next week. Hopefully I will get the job, but if not, I know in a couple of years I'll be done with school and won't feel so stuck.
Men- well, see above. The only two guys I'm even remotely interested in are basically off-limits because Guy #1 is my best friend's ex-husband. Not that it would be too weird for her, she's happily remarried and thinks it'd be a hoot if we started dating. He and I sort of have an unspoken agreement that flirting is as far as it will go. Guy #2 is a honey where the money is, so that's a no-no and I know know it! Although he does make it fun to go to work. I like him, could like like him, but, alas, I know better. Sigh. Unfortunately, since school started, summer ended for my kids, and I have been trying to get this other job, I basically spend about 55 hours a week at work and the rest of my time with my kids. Makes it hard to meet anyone who isn't there, you know?
That's one reason why I'm not actively dating anyone. I don't have time to actively look for anyone, and I know it wouldn't be fair to someone to say "gee, I'd like to be in a relationship but you're about 7th on my list of things to do today"... I know I wouldn't put up with that for very long!
So, for now I'm concentrating on me, the kids, school, and work, and basically window shopping without trying anything on or making any purchases where men are concerned. It does seem to show, though, since I seem to get "hit on" more and in really random places now- like in line to pay for my morning coffee, whereas when I was actively seeking a relationship, the men seemed to all vanish into thin air!
Wow, sorry my update got so long, I've really missed the board!!

Moody- who should learn the meaning of the word "brevity"!

Great idea, Alison - I hope everynone posts here - calling all lurkers - it is always good to hear what everyone is up to.

Name, location, kids, pets, dating status (you don't have to say their name) ages of you and the kids and an update.

Judy - 44 - the southeast, one son who is almost 11, 2 dogs, not dating - I have decided to let time and fate take care of my dating status. I am not going crazy trying to meet someone. Rather, I am going crazy with training right now to improve my running.

Stephanie, 42 and in the DFW area of Texas! One son who is 15 and my daughter, who is almost 11. They keep me hopping! We have a big fat cat named Fisby, a black pug named Maggie, fish and 2 doves. We just recently adopted Maggie from a pug rescue group and she is just wonderful!

I am heading to Albuquerque next weekend for the Balloon Fiesta! I haven't really gone anywhere all year, so I am excited. No love life to speak of. Broke up with my BF about a month ago. Hadn't seen much of him in July or August, so it seems longer. I have a dinner date this weekend, so we shall see.

Michelle (25), daughter Regan (3) and I have been dating "D" for about 6 months (officially 4 mths ago it was "labeled") I bowl in two leagues, work full-time, and spend time my daughter. Things are going ok, except for everyone asking us when we are going to get married, or "when's the wedding?". Nice to meet everyone :)
