Cover of book - analyze!!

Okay - here is my profile/intro - wanted to get everyone's opinions. I kept it short and sweet - like the cover of a book. Tells the basics but hopefully makes them want to learn more:

Active and fun looking for the same
My life is happy and I am looking for someone positive who is close in age and proximity who enjoys an active lifestyle. Every day interests include some sort of exercise - biking, running, swimming, walking with the dogs - and there is cooking and laughing, too. South Florida has so much to offer with the great weather that we can enjoy on most days - and the ocean, parks and more. I do enjoy going out (although not a big party animal), music, shows, movies, books and travel. It would be great to find a significant other to share stories and laughter and more.

If you have comments I am all ears.

That intro and a couple of bikini pictures would be perfect...

Seriously, my hit on your profile is that you are an active woman and fairly generic in your

Knowing what I know about you- it's a very fitting description! You're laying it out there, plain and simple, and not lying about anything. The only thing is- it is pretty "generic" as Mark put it. Nothing really stands out to me! Would it be too "scary" to the men if you mentioned something about triathlons in there? I find that part of you quite interesting and it's something that gives you that "wow" effect... but (Comments, anyone???) would you think it would be too intimidating to men, too??

I'm not sure, as I'm not a man. Mark??? Thoughts?

Thanks, Shrimps.

I didn't want to put the word triathlons in there because then they all think they have to do one and that is not possible for most in my age group - because they are either not quite that fit or they don't have the time. Plus I feel it needs further explanation in person - because they also think I don't have time for them which is a load of "rot" to quote our dear Miss Clemmy - I can always make time for a relationship - I have flexible working hours which allows for the training during the day.

I hope that makes sense. I just want someone fit and active and fun - not a couch potato who likes to go to dinner as his activity.

I guess if you guys think it is a bit too generic I can try to think of some more stuff to say that makes it more unique. I do appreciate all of the advice I can get.

Hi West - I do agree ....it is a little too generic....what about mentioning the following points.

1) you are a successful entrepreneur - people find this intriguing and it is an admirable quality

2) Love to challenge yourself or that you are always up for a new experience/challenge

Hmmm... you sound too generic...

Play up the culinary skills, maybe talk about the two HUGE dogs, your brilliant son and building a success of yourself.

I disagree Alison for the dating profile is not suppose to be like a resume touting one's accomplishments. I believe it is meant to be a way of inviting the person to want to get to know you more.

I believe the way to do that is to reveal who you are rather than what you are, ex. playful, fun, athletic, etc. I think that the best way of showing those qualities is through statements like: I'm an active gal who would love to have a partner who will jump on a bike and ride with me just to enjoy a great Spring day. We can work up a good sweat together and then enjoy each other's company afterwards at some roadside stand to slurp a frostie.

Well, that's off the top of my head but my point is that you want to invite the person in and at the same time convey what you want and like.

Make sense? Not that I'm an expert at writing profiles and attracting men (or women for that matter ...).

"Not that I'm an expert at writing profiles and attracting men"

LOL - you have been so funny lately!!

There was an eharmony article that said that your profile should be like the cover of a book - entice them to ask you out and see what is inside.

I am trying to work on it a bit to add a little more detail:

Looking for active partner who likes cookies
My life is happy and I am looking for someone who is close in age and proximity who enjoys being active. I love the outdoors especially here in South Florida - there is so much to do. Every day interests currently include biking, running, swimming, walking with the dogs - and there is delicious cooking and plenty of laughing here, too. I love to make all sorts of pasta dishes and big fresh salads. Have been known to make pizza and cookies from scratch as I was once a pastry chef for Hyatt Hotels. This area has so much to offer with the great weather that we can enjoy on most days - and the beaches, parks and more. I do enjoy going out at night some to listen to music and see shows and movies (although not a big party animal). I enjoy good books (am reading Blink) and like travel especially when it includes the outdoors; last year I visited Jackson Hole and loved it. It would be great to find a significant other to share stories and laughter and more.

Okay - and for giggles, I added the picture with the bathing suit!! Maybe that means I am loaded for bear?
