Okay--so we know how Soonee feels about fate (from the other thread ;-) but I was curious who does and doesn't believe in fate?

I do believe in fate and I do believe I met bf at the optimal time for both of us even though I was feeling pretty good on my own and very hesitant at first and he was right out of a relationship that broke his heart. This explains our hesitation at the beginning to pursuing one another but I think fate knew better - thats why we kept running in to one another for no reason for weeks and thats why even when I ignored those signs, I almost hurt him with my car. By then , I had to let fate take over and just went for it. So glad I did!

I think someone else here said it's not so much fate as what choices you make with the hand that you're dealt.

I believe that everything happens for a reason... the good, the bad, the ugly and the indifferent....is that still considered fate?

I would like to twist this some. Everything does happen in life - and it is up to us to find the good reason and put a positive spin on it.

I totally agree - I choose to be a 'glass half full' kind of person.

Like my X. No matter WHAT happened, if it wasnt the BEST thing ... to him, it was the WORST. NOTHING made the guy happy. NOTHING was good enough, happy enough, big enough, fast enough, etc.

You poor thing - that sounds like the most unbelievable experience. OMG. Although it has brought us many lessons about drinking and personality disorders and what to watch for. We are glad you shared with us. I guess that is a purpose, right?
