A woman said she loves me but....

I had dated a woman for 3 years about 10 years ago. When I got to NC I found out that she was living in the state about 3 hours from me. We talked quite a bit by email, text, and phone. I was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan and she mentioned that she didn't want me to go and she wanted for me to retire because she still loved me. I had been thinking of retiring because it was feeling like it was time to but that gave me extra incentive. I retired and started looking for a job in her area. After I retired she stopped contacting me as much even though we spent some time together every now and then. She has also said alot of things to me that I took to be promises.

Dude who knows?
yes; I was calling, emailing, texting several times a week, plus I was going down to the area she lives for career fairs, job interviews, etc and I would always let her know so we could get together. We did meet several times but it was usually for lunch. Most other times she wouldn't reply. We also took 2 short vacations together. Her not contacting me often has been going on since Oct-Nov....
we were talking fairly constant for about 8-9 months when I noticed the contact started to drop off. I did have a concern about several things but we talked alot about those concerns and it was enough that it wasn't a concern any longer.
I agree with your assessment. Something has changed in her feelings toward you.
BUT I am sure if you move on and look elsewhere you will find a nice one! Keep us posted - it is really fun to hear a man's perspective!
Sounds like she has someone else in her life. Her reactions is what we call: Just not that into you.
I would stop contact with her all together. You've already made a huge sacrifice getting out of the service for her and she seems to be leading you on. Get over her and find someone that really appreciates who you are and sticks by you deployed or not!
Sorry your going through this!
Welcome to the board!
