I know that one to take the whole summer is optimal from a logistics standpoint. But it makes me nervous to have all eggs in one basket so to speak. And an aggressive dog is not so good.

With some of the extra money that you will make by having the higher frequency turn over, can you hire a cleaning service to try and lighten your load?
Oh beleive me ... I dont do the cleaning in b/w, lol. NO WAY, NO HOW. My cleaning lady does it. But, i need to do the beds, make sure things are back where they need to be, clean out the fridge, little stuff. & run in & do my OWN laundry in b/w rentals, lol.
Its more the organization of the people in & out, booking, checking in, checking out, getting damage deposits mailed back, etc. But shoot for 30K+ in about 5 months time, i should just shut UP!
