How the other side thinks

Well, at least the very young men. My S19 has not dated at all. His first date ever was prom. At his work, everyone is older than he is so when he met a girl who was only 20 he decided to go for it and asked her if she'd like to go out for coffee or something. She agreed, that went well and they got together a second time and he helped her with her physics homework. He has a natural affinity for that subject. So then he goes to CO for a weekend ski trip, he text messages her, no response. He calls and leaves a message when he gets back to UT. No response. So he calls me and asks if that means she's not interested and he should not call anymore or she'll think he's a stalker. He waited 4 days between the text and the phone call and he's worried he'll be taken for a stalker! Yes, guys have a lot to learn don't they?

QueenBun, sorry been AWOL so long- but my master bath shower is finally finished!!! The rest of the master bath is still under construction, but the shower turned out cool.

OOPs! Here is your update....it got lost and I did not see it. Glad to see you back from your AWOL status!!!

Your bathroom looks great! Nice work! BE and I are going to be tackeling his bathroom and showerstall later this spring. And he's been living bachelor style for 9 years...uh can you imagine the work we are in for, lol?

Good luck on the bathroom remodel. I started this project over a year ago when I drew up the plans as a class project. S19 started the demolition work over 4th of July week and it seems every step has had problems. The whole shower and sink areas both had to be ripped back to the studs/adobe walls due to improper construction when the house was built and mold issues. Then I couldn't get contractors to show up to replace that big window, then I couldn't get tile guys to show up. The carpenter who installed the sink area cabinets is a friend of M's who is not shall we say a detail oriented person so I had to hover over everything he did. My brand new very expensive shower/tub faucet set was defective and the manufacturer sent the wrong replacement part. That added 3 weeks to this job. And when we pulled the toilet the ring crumbled to pieces and had a big plumbing job there. So much debris gathered in the tub drain that when the tile guy started working, he dislodged enough of it to totally block the sewer line- I think I posted about that crazy weekend. I start painting in there this weekend. Then the last cabinet will get installed and I can order counter tops.

My Feb was crazy because on top of the bathroom project my sister came to visit, we went to Mex, my kids got the flu (D4 threw up IN MY FACE in the middle of the night after her big birthday party), had 2 major school projects due, went to Park City for Rodeo break ski trip, and had my volunteer work with the Opera get very busy. Squeezing in time for M has been a challenge as he and his X got off the matched up schedule. As of this weekend we are back in synch. Oh, and I've started looking for an internship for this summer.

The door to that alcove leads to a desert brush area between my house and my neighbor's. The set backs here are 30' so it is a 60' wide swath of trees and cactus. There are stunning views of the mountains from that window if I got rid of the adobe wall, but then my neighbors uphill would have a shocking view of me in my shower. And that door has a lock on it. Once the neighborhood bobcat got stuck in there. She didn't have enough room to get a running start to launch herself back over the wall. I had to go let her out.

Yes, I hope S19 has better luck meeting young ladies over the summer season. He's staying up in UT to continue working at Deer Valley. I won't suggest OLD to him. He has too little experience with dating to not fall hard for someone over the e-mail portion before he even meets them. At least now he is considering taking EMT training at the community college so he can get a ski patrol certification. That is a job he could do anywhere in the world and he could have a regular job as well. He'll be 21 in time for the Winter Olympics in Canada and wants to get at least a volunteer job for those few weeks. Being ski patrol certified increases his chances of getting chosen.

Whew...you have been busy!! Well worth the work though- it really looks nice!

BE's house is a late 80's model condo and the bathroom has never had a facelift. It needs so much. A new shower stall and faucet for starters, his leaks to the downstairs when the bath is filled. Would love new tile for counters and floors, a good paint job and IMO the cabinets need to GO!

Then there is the kitchen- I swear some lunatic designed his. Nothing is very accessible and it's really only user friendly for bachelors- at least the microwave is easy to get to , lol.

I am starting on his patio this weekend. I have a thing for outdoor landscaping and planting. I love the feel of a nice patio with fresh plants! I'm going to survey the concrete on the ground and see if we can lay terra cotta tile. He's got a new grill that we'll put out there when it's done.

Hope you kiddos are all over the flu! How awful! Where are you looking to intern?

I'm doing the internship for my Interior Design degree so I'm hoping to find a spot at an architectural firm rather than some kind of retail job. M has a couple of acquaintances that are architects and has mentioned me to one of them. She seemed interested in meeting me so we'll see if that pans out. M is kind of bad at follow through, great at starting things, just not good at following up. The school doesn't help with placement, just gives you a list of places, mostly retail, to try. I think I'll just end up doing cold calls til I find a spot.

QB!!!!!!!!! That is gorgeous!! Great and creative design work - and oh my gosh - what a difference that huge window can make.

I am sure it was quite the headache with the contractors!! I know how that goes - but when it is all done it is so worth it!!

Congrats! thanks for stopping by!

I meant to ask you for an update - how are things going with M? And the ex? Are you doing okay?

Yeah, things are chugging along with M. We got through our little dust up with the opera/superbowl issue. He just doesn't get the whole theater etiquette thing so I took a friend to this last opera, someone who can't afford to go on her own.Much better companion, much more enjoyable when the person really wants to be there. And it is totally OK that M doesn't have a passion for opera, never was a prerequisite, I'm happy he gave it a try.

We've been bouncing around the maybe, sometime in the future, living in the same household topic a bit more lately. We won't get really serious about that until the only kid left at home is D4. Neither of us wants the blended family thing. And he is doing better at holding up the boundaries with his X. He knows he has to, and I understand how she manipulates him through his love for their girls. He is making an effort to protect our time together, especially since we've been off the synchronized schedule since Jan.

Went out last night as it was officially the beginning of Spring Break for me and neither of us had kids. So we jokingly decided to go to a bar since it is the "thing to do" when on Spring Break. Ran into a bunch of people from my classes at this bar. We were the oldest people in there. LOL.

That's my update on the BF topic.Sorry to read things didn't pan out with any of your prospects yet.
