Last night i decided to check out the meetup group... I'm glad i went.... i had fun... made some new friends...

yes, Rockerguy was there.... he said hello but pretty much left me alone.. he did ask me to dance and said, "you never called me back"... oh sorry, i said.... i guess he got the hint that i'm not that interested. He made it into the finals for the karaoke contest.

Then i sang "Thank U" by Alanis Morrisette.... and two people from my group said i should enter the contest next week with that song.... one said, i'll enter you if you don't. So,

I read this the other day and you inspired me. I started checking out local meetup groups and realized that there isn't one focused for single parents in this area.

So, I thought about kicking out the money to start one up. I can't remember how much it was.. 100'ish maybe? Then I thought no, I'm not ready to sink money into this idea just yet. So, I made a myspace group, advertised on craigslist, and did a myspace search for divorced parents late 20's to mid 40's and nicely emailed each and every one of them that didn't look like a serial killer, or all their pictures were of them drunk and flipping off the camera lol. Basically people that I felt would mesh well together.

My idea was to have one family friendly event a month, and one adult only event a month and just see what happens. If I

Hey Eponine....your screenname reminds me of a musical my brother was in!! I just wanted to let you know that the meetup thing is 14 a month for me and I run a dog group with 150 members in it. I started it a bit over a year ago and we love it! It has been a great activity for my bf and my son and I together and the people have been great overall. Also with meetup, you can ask your members to eventually pay dues which end up being very small for them to cover your 14 dollar fee. I think meetup is pretty great compared to other groups because they have a lot of very friendly software on there and it is super easy to organize things. They set it up that way. In the beginning we thought we would be lucky to find 10 people in the area that had a purebred Mastiff (we have an English Mastiff but wanted to allow for all of the Mastiff purebreds) and instead it got way bigger than we ever thought. We are actually fairly known in the dog communities around here which to me is funny since we both work in the arts and only wish our true careers were so easy to grow in popularity...lol

Yep,

Les Miserables. I've been in love with the book and musical since high school. When my best friend got the "internet" I didn't even know what the hell it was. But we got on Mirc and started chatting and I used eponine (365 my address at the time) ever since :)

BTW: The movie made me want to stand up and scream: THIS SUCKS!!

Yes, i suppose i'm doing a lot better than the old city..... I have a different spot for almost everynight of the week.... I'm meeting more and more people every week.... a less stressful job.... and pool with the children on the weekends...

I have much to be thankful for... Amen.
