Well here is the downside

I just finished posting about my positive experience so far on match and just now I get hate mail. Yes hate mail. Some guy just went off on me...apparently, I did not choose bald men as a preference. To be honest, I think some bald men are hot but is it a preference, no. In fact I didn't even bother to review my preferences because I was too caught up on getting my profile straight. So this guy obviously has issues and my profile rubbed him wrong. It was kind of funny because he tried to make a comparison about small chested women. (yeah...that is not me but he wouldn't know that since I only have a face shot right now) He made other comments with assumptions about my personality and looks. (guess he thinks I am cutesy, whatever) It is kind of amusing because this guy doesn't know me nor I him so I know not to take it personally but it is also a bit shocking. What did he expect to get out of this? I just hit delete because I sure as hell am not going to engage.

I cant help but have this evil thought though. You know how sometimes emails come in and at the end is this annoying advert about something and it truly has nothing to do with the person or what you are writing. I have frequently wished that somehow we could control which ads would be there so that they could poke the person instead of US having to do it in an ouvert way. So that you could write him and simply say "sorry to hear you are offended. That was not my intention and I wish you well" and then at the end of your email there would be this random ROGAINE advert. *SEND* and as SYB says *ZINGER*!!!!
I think being on the Internet really brings out the worst in people because they hide behind their computer and the anonymity. Not having to face people and tell them what you think and doing it via text or IM or email is the cultural norm nowadays IMHO.
It sucks and it's cowardly but there ya go, it is what it is.
Mark who is wondering how savannah's profile looks like... :-)

Hi Mark,
if you check out my profile help please, you will get a glimpse at my profile and the picture is the same one you see here. Simple really. but you can check me out. ;)
Well not liking bald men (CW does not like bald or shaved head guys either) or short or fat or not HAPPY or DOES not ENJOY LIFE are all preferences. The angry guy was obviously not happy. The Online Dating Forum has stories of guys who want to argue why you should pick them after you tell them it is not a match.
BTW being a veteran of OLD for 8 yrs, I find your profile a nice generic kind so if I was in the market and in the age range I would say "she looks good and is the right height" therefore "close enough" and message you. That is without reading your profile.
Good luck!
Mark

Actually I think match has a policy against harassing emails, and that one sure sounds like it is. I would report it to match and then move on. Unfortunately you will get all kinds of weird emails. I learned to shrug them off and move on. But if I were harassed I would report it first. You have to be thick skinned to do online dating.

Oh you are far and away the better woman than me to just delete. I would sohave wanted to write back "See that's why I don't like bald men, they are nasty, bitter trolls. Take care." But that is only out of spite and I know better. In fact I[ve dated some sexy bald men..but I'd write that anyway because I have a hard time getting a zinger and not reacting.
Much better responses to come..worry not!!
