Ok ladies.. help me plan a date here!

So Irish and I have kept things very laid back... and things are going very well. We talk every few days and try to plan one date whenever I have time off from work.. so about every other week. I was sick again last week and he stopped by and brought me soup.. very sweet. Then he got more major points by respecting the fact that I had one unexpected free day come up and he went out of his way for us to be able to go out that night. That is HUGE in my book. I have yet to find a man who really respected my schedule and tried to work with me.

We've also taken huge steps backwards with the physical stuff. We got wrapped up in some couch time there in the beginning.. and now he drops me off at the door and gives me a kiss goodnight. We both agree that if we would have gotten wrapped up in it all and jumped in to quick that it would be over by now. So.. its feeling good. Very different dating someone like this.. it seems like its always all or nothing with men that I date.. ya know?

So anyway.. to the reason for this post. We had planned a while back that I was surprising him with a night out this Saturday (6th). I was taking him to that Burlesque show, and I was really excited about it.. and he had no idea. Well, I went to buy the tickets and I got to thinking.. I wonder if this is a non-smoking event or if its more like a bar. Well, Irish cannot tolerate smoke AT ALL. Gives him a major headache.. my step father is the same way. Anyway, it IS a smoking event! So now I have to come up with something totally different yet equally fabulous!

So here are my options.. and please add in any ideas that you might have.. good lord please, I'm at a loss here! lol. Our night looks like it may be going from NC17 to G rated haha.

1- Christmas festival in this little town outside of Charlotte (free)
2- The Singing Christmas Tree (20.00'ish per ticket)
3- A Christmas Carol (the play) (??)
4- McAdenville (city of xmas lights.. you just ride around in your car basically, but a big fave around here) (free)
5- Charlotte Bobcats (basketball) game (15.00/ticket)
6- Iceskating downtown.. something tells me I may like this more than him. There's something very sweet about iceskating outdoors, at night, with hot chocolate and a big fuzzy scarf!

I'm just kinda bummed that I had this great surprise and now its not going to happen. I'd like to at least have another surprise up my sleeve for an equally great night.

I know this wasn't on your list but it sounds like you and he like quaint holiday type events (with romance thrown in to!)- Is there a horse drawn carriage service at any of these areas or events in Charlotte? I had a date arrange a carriage ride once in Greenville, SC downtown area at night and it was sooooo romantic. Then the Hot Toddy or a great dinner.

$15 a ticket for a basketball game?! I would jump on that one in a heart beat. You cant touch Celtics tickets for anywhere near that. Is he a fan or does he like pro sports? And at that price dinner and a game would be an affordable date.

last year exfi and I took my kids all the way to McAdenville to see the lights in the town. We had a great time seeing the lights and even stopped in the middle to walk along the bridge. Great time was had by all. McDs in the car, hot choc adn coffee later followed by a fabulous time at my friends house in Clover and a drive all the way back to Charleston. I may make a weekend trip back up there just to go see the lights again.

I say go skating, go see the lights(does that work logistically in
