Oh I feel your pain on that one. I work in Real Estate and we are open Christmas Eve til 1, then closed Christmas Day, and then open on Friday. Then we are open New Year's Eve until 1 and closed New Years Day. We also get nothing for a bonus and the Center has put a stop to all raises (as well as all full time employees and all overtime). So I'm only working part time and having to pay for full time daycare because anything over 5 hours to them is a full day, when I only work 6.
I'm also getting help from my man, but I feel horrible asking him. The other day he made a comment about his finances being totally turned upside down on him and I felt horrible for it. I know it's not my fault and he didn't mean anything by it, but it still sucks.

Not that it helps any but im in the same boat with money and daycare. DDs daycare is closed on christmas eve and the day after christmas so thats 2 full days no pay. Im out of sick and vacation. But try to talk to your employer Im sure they will work with you if you need to leave early.

Hang in there!

Yea, I have no choice but to just put it out there that I HAVE to leave earlier than we close and I HAVE to have off the next day.

I absolutely understand, Mel. I think a lot of us single parents are in the same boat with you. The holidays totally stress me out...mainly because I want to make DD happy and always want her to have a memorable Christmas.

Hang in there...I know it is hard. I'm in debt like usual at this time of year. Just know that even the small things and being together with them will make them happy. Like making cookies, or crafts. Inexpensive things. They will love and remember that.

Your work sounds harsh with the schedule. I'm sending good vibes and thoughts that it will work out for you!

I've had some pretty bad Christmases the last two years and this is my first one that is going to be pretty good.

Even as an RN, working in a smaller comminity hopsital that is non-union, the crunch has been on since June. We never get bonuses anyway. Our yearly raise was always a Merit raise, up to 7%. Most people got 3-4.5%.
