Celtics and Cell Phones Pt 2

Ok after trying to watch last nights game with EMT who was playing games on his freaky deaky blackberry I decided the cell phone has to go. I mean he doesnt have kids at home who need to get ahold of him in an instant. He isnt on call for his job or anything like that. Its just an annoying addiction.

So how do I do this? The thing is driving me crazy. He is on it all the time. Litterally. Its insane. I cant even chit chat with him because he is playing with the dang cell phone.

I should have read your post before I told him to ditch the cell phone. He got defensive. Ugh. Finally during the conversation when he was defending himself I said 'never mind, I will deal with it'. I did not handle it well at all.

Ugh

Laurie..

I think what I would do is let him have his little toy however I would express that it feels like you don't have his attention while your talking and he's playing with the phone.

Then, next time you're with him and you're talking to him and he plays with it just simply stop talking mid sentences. Do it everytime he plays with it while you're talking. He'll get the point soon enough!

Ask him how well his phone keeps his bed warm at night since he seems to like it so much more than you.

Or another way to get your point across is to whip out your phone and start texting him to continue the conversation.

That is exactly what I do to my sister although it is for her carrying on multiple conversations while she is on the phone with me. I find it rude so I just stop talking mid-sentence and wait until she acknowledges and apologizes. It is the only thing that works and it is very effective. I have even abruptly ended calls telling her to call me back when she had time to talk with me. It is my pet-peeve when you are having a conversation with someone who's focus is elsewhere.
