Reaching for a pan in the oven without oven gloves, long hair in mixer (I had the presence of mind to stop the mixer and unplug it but my father had me cut my hair from below my butt to shoulder length that very afternoon), the time deepfrying spring rolls became a towering inferno experience (good thing that was put out quickly) and well, it's a long list!

Walking away while something is cooking (not good)

Did the... pick up a hot cast iron pan with no glove thing. Owch!

Spreading everything from one end to the other so I have wayyy more to clean.

Careless placement of items (TOMATO SAUCE/ SALSA) in the fridge so it attacks me and splatters all over the next time I open the door.

I once set the microwave for thirty minutes when it should have been three.

I've set the oven and the stove on fire quite a few times. Every single time that I've made beef stroganoff I've forgotten to add the sour cream until after I've dished it up and set it on the table. Once when I was making coffee I forgot to add the coffee and made a pot of hot water instead. And once when I was cleaning the coffee pot with veinegar water I turned on the coffee maker without setting the coffee pot underneath so the hot vinegar water went everywhere.

I've always been afraid that I would forget something on the stove. I once walked all the way back to my rental apartment, because I was convinced that I had forgotten to turn off the stove and that it would start a fire. Fortunately, everything was okay.

Yikes! It's a good thing you caught it after 3 minutes but don't you hate it when you catch it after everything has splattered your microwave?

Yes to the hot soup to puree, though it didn't explode (that would have kept me out of the kitchen forever lol). Double yes to leaving food to simmer whilst one goes off doing something else, esp. the internet.

I can't believe that you and MIL didn't notice that the food was burning LOL!

I think we've all forgotten to put coffee in the coffee machine, and made hot water instead!

I've often forgotten to put an ingredient in a dish I'm cooking. My last boo-boo was forgetting to sift and mix the dry ingredients before adding to the wet ones... the cake was edible but not as soft as it should have been. I burned the top too heh heh...

I never think about the fire aspect, only the trashed pan and the wasted food and the STANK in my house, weird huh?
