Finally breaking down

First a little history. I lost my job on December 22, 2009. Merry Christmas to me!. Found a temp job for January. Moved back in with my parents on Feb. 6. Happy birthday to me!. I'm in college full-time, have been since July 2009. Going to have my Associates for Paralegal in December 2010. I also use to work full-time, plus overtime. It feels weird having free time.

I have finally broke down and decide to take Nursing Assist class, to get my certification. There is a rest home and hospital in my parents' small town (1300 pop), both within walking distance.

Hi Jenny,

It sure can't hurt to have those skills --

It can be a very physical job.

Hi Jenny,

I think that $450 is a good investment if it will get you a job in the area where you live. These are also skills that might help you in the future - who knows! As Diana has said, it's a very physical job. Empathy would help, but it depends what you would be doing, too. Sometimes empathy comes by knowing the people you are dealing with. But does one need empathy? I think at the very least one needs to be able to smile and be (and stay) respectful to the person, and be a good listener.

Hopefully by April you'll have a new job - that's something good to look forward to.
