Are you ambitious, laid back or a bit of both?

Has your level of ambition changed over the years?

Have the subjects of your ambition changed over the years or have they remained the same?

I don't think I'm as ambitious as much as I tend to strive to my personal best - at least most of the time. There have been times when I've been rewarded with higher positions because of that, but it wasn't always the goal. With achieving promotions, I simply raised the bar as to what my personal best was. H'mmm - I guess that is "ambition" isn't it?!? (Clears throat) Sooooo, yup, I'm ambitious.

Yes, my ideals of personal best/ambition has changed and mellowed and ebbed and flowed in all sorts of directions! It's been quite the ride!

Were you already interested in carpentry then?

Poppy, I've always been interested in making things, but it mainly involved crafts that I cut out of wood with either a jig saw or scroll saw.

A lot of people want to see some kind of obvious ambition (or its results) and if possible, glamorous results. And if you don't have or show that...

I've got acquaintances who are like that. I am glad that they are successful and happy with what they are doing and their lives, but I wish they wouldn't judge me before they've lived my life.

I kind of like being laid back, too... but the problem is that sometimes ambition takes over LOL ;-)

I agree! The important is to choose what is important for each of us, and to find a way that works for us to lead as balanced life as possible.

And not all ambitions have to do with work, either :-)

Welcome to the board, Susan!

Yes, ambitions change as people mature and have more experience, and as they raise families or have other responsibilities outside of themselves and work.

Sometimes ambition for the family can motor ambitions at work, though.

Changing ambitions are pretty normal, they reflect the changes in ourselves and our lives though there are people with constant ambitions, too.

>>At the core, they are much the same, but they have matured as I have.

Very nicely put, Bunsofclay!
