Our colleagues at NBC alerted us to this issue, which will be featured in this week's episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Mariska Hargitay, star of NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, introduces the September 29th episode entitled "Behave" which shines a light on the backlog of untested rape kits in the United States. To learn more about the backlog, please visit Mariska's Joyful Heart Foundation at www.joyfulheartfoundation.org. Here's link that explains when Mariska testified in congress about this issue and a link to that testimony: http://www.joyfulheartfoundation.org/advocacy_backlog.htm

What do you think? Were you aware of this issue and why do you think this continues to happen?

Yes I was aware of the thousands of kits unprocessed.

I understand that it's very expensive to test the DNA. I've heard of a victim of rape that was sent a bill for doing the test.

Terrific foundation.

I'd read about this before.
