Today was a challenging work day. Actually, it has been a challenging work week. One of my staff members is simply not meeting expectations and driving me nuts. Today, it impacted my "me" time for walking---meaning I was only able to walk around the building rather than the block. I did stay on plan for eating though. Please advise---how do each of you manage stress?

Oh boy I can relate to this one! The last few weeks have been VERY stressful for me and I haven't been able to manage it very well. It's one of those things where one thing piles on top of another and another and yet another. However I'm usually able to handle it when it comes in smaller doses. I have two blogs online that I rant in, one for weight loss and one for everything else. I usually post in one of those when I have a specific thing to rant about. While exercising is the LAST thing you want to do while in a foul temper, if you can get yourself motivated it truly does help. I find strength training, as sj suggested, the best. It boosts your adrenaline and works your muscles. It's kind of like boxing without the bag I suppose. That's the only thing I can compare it to.

For stress-related food cravings, I suggest gum or hard candies. Any flavor of mint usually works best for me because I know if I eat something after a mint that it's going to taste very odd. Being the food addict that I am, I've always ate for taste so that does help. Also, keep water handy always. Even if it's a bottle at room temperature.
