Not Embarrassed or In Shock

I have seen other posts on the board from ladies who are embarrassed or worried what others will say about their 40-something pregnancy. I just want to throw out that this isn't the case for everyone...at least not me.

I didn't get married/start a family in my 20s.

It was nice to read your message Renee! Thank you for posting! I too did not marry or begin a family until my mid-late 30's. I finished college and grad school and worked for a while. DH and I married when I was 37, gave birth to DS when I was 38.5, and are pregnant with number 2 and due to deliver right after I turn 41.

When I sense that someone is judgmental of my current situation, I remind myself that where I am right now in life is what has been best for me and I don't owe anyone an explanation or excuse. I am not embarrassed; I am proud!

I had my last baby at 41 and I was never embarrassed when I was pg and I'm not embarrassed about my baby now.

I was happy about my pregnancy (although a bit nervous) from the start, but I must admit that, living in an area where I didn't run into one other pregnant woman in her 40s during my entire pregnancy (and it's common to see teenagers pushing their babies in strollers), I have felt like a bit of an oddball. This would not have been the case in NJ, where I'm from. On the other hand, it was only members of my own family who expressed any negativity-- or rather, concern-- about my age as related to having a baby. Most people were supportive and happy for me, and if anyone wasn't, I tuned them out.

Not embarrassed over here either. Married DH at 35 (he was 40.5), knew about MFI and started trying interventions the year before our wedding. Had DS at 38.5 and then started trying for number 2
