first PAL freakout

Okay, ladies. I'm having my PAL freak-out. First appt w/ the MFM specialist tomorrow. I know this is typical before a PAL first appt, but it's still unnerving.

I know it's still too early but I tried to find the HB w/ my doppler and of course, couldn't find it. I actually POAS this afternoon just to make myself feel better, ROFL. It does help that I'm staring at it right now and the test line is about 3 times as dark as the control line.

If you remember, I made tomorrow's appt w/ my chemical preg from last month and so it was scheduled for 9+ weeks but I'm only going to be 5w4d tomorrow. I'm getting upset thinking they won't do an u/s for me cause it would be too early. Ugh! Less than 24 hours of misery :-p

hi Kate,

Yes...at <6 weeks they wouldn't even be able to detect a HB on ultrasound, let alone with a Doppler. If they do an ultrasound for you tomorrow, it may not tell you much since it may still be too early to see the HB. So it might not be all that reassuring even if they did do one. Can they schedule you for an ultrasound in another 2-3 weeks?

KUP...

I have one scheduled for sure on Sept 29th (which seems like forever away but is really only two weeks). The doctor I see tomorrow is a perinatologist and they have THE BEST u/s equipment. They were able to see all three hb's with my triplet/twin pregnancy in 2008 at 5.5 weeks. I don't even mind if they can't find the HB (knowing that it might not even be beating yet), but I do want to know if there's more than one sac in there! With a history of multiples, you'd think that would be enough reason to check...

A line is a line is a line, they say. I think it does vary by test and urine concentration, so if I'm being logical, the fact that mine is blazing hot doesn't mean anything more than if it was only just there. Illogically with my hormonal preggo brain, I am very reassured. Maybe do a digital and then you'll just see the "pregnant" and not have to analyze the test?

I hope all goes well for you tomorrow, Kate! And I know it seems like forever away, but the 29th isn't all that far off. As for the pee sticks, PUT THEM DOWN and back away! I completely freaked myself out when I kept using them and the line wasn't getting any darker. Now here we are and I'm almost halfway through... I'm continuing to send my sticky SINGLE baby vibes your way!

I had my first u/s at that time frame and all we saw was a yolk sac and then 9 days later we had a HB ... you know the drill faith over fear! GL tomorrow and KUP ((hugs)) for your freakout!
