Ugh, I'm sorry you're having such a rough time with the plugs. Since you're having recurrent plugs, I might suggest looking into starting a lecithin supplement. Some of our moms here with plug issues have found a lot of relief with this. Here's some info: http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/vitamins/lecithin.html.

As far as getting rid of the plug that's already there, nursing and pumping frequently are the two big things as I'm sure you already know. You can take some ibuprofen as an antiinflammatory. Here's a link with a lot of good tips too: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/mastitis.html. I'd recommend the hot compresses and dangle soaks, particularly if massaging is too painful for you.

Just keep an eye on it and if you start to get red streaks, a fever or flu-like symptoms, it may have progressed to mastitis and you might want to see a dr.

I hope this passes quickly!

It actually sounds like what you may have had is a milk blister rather than a plugged duct. Here's some info on milk blisters: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/nipplebleb.html. I'm glad you got through it!
