Ok so I went or it and dropped to 2 pumps for the last 5 days. My supply is staying about the same and I am wondering if you think this will last? I am excited, but need to make about 30-35 ounces a day for little man. He eats about 35 ounces a day now at almost 9 months. If I think I might loose much more I need to add a pump back in. Has anyone maintained a good supply at 2x?

Here's my log last week at 3x

Looks promising! I do think I've read some ladies here saying they have had a delayed impact - like a week later, though. You might still see a decrease. You can always add the pump back in, or power pump, to get your supply back if it does go down. KUP!

We should start a thread about decreasing pumps and its impact on supply so we can all compare notes. I think there are a lot of us in the process of dropping pumps.

I can't offer any personal advice as I'm still pumping 3x a day for my 10.5 month old.

I am at the same point, my ds will be one on nov. 14th so I have dropped to 2x, mainly because I was thinking of weaning early but 2x is nothing really so far. My supply did drop, almost immediately to 21-23 ounces. I was steady at 27 ounces or so before but had to supplement with donor milk for one bottle a day. I will probably do 2x for another month and then drop to 1x for the last 2 weeks of pumping. So it easier to wean off the pump.

DS just turned one and I am also thinking of going from 3 to 2. I lost about 20% of supply when I dropped from 4 to 3. I am ready, but he is still drinking so much milk, solids are more playtime than nutrition for him. SO I think I will stick with it until I see more of an interest in solid food.

I went down to 2x a day at 10 months, and we're still good at 14 months!

A question to Melissa: how much are you making at 2? From what I remember your supply was similar to mine, although your DD does not drink much milk, right? I'm just wondering if I could may be drop to 2 in the next couple months, as I'm considering going back to work and will not be able to pump in the middle of the day in that case. Now at 3 I make around 40 oz's...

Just thought I would update. I have stayed at 2 and am producing 30-35 ounces a day! Plan on staying here until Feb. then dropping to 1 as long as I can stand it. Ds will be one mid Dec. I am producing just enough for him now and want to get him through the winter. So excited to be down to 2, but really ready to be done. That 30-40 minutes in the morning is SOO HARD.

Thanks so much for updating. I need to drop to 3 in the next few weeks, and then will probably drop to 2 in Jan or Feb. I might even try dropping to 2 in Dec. It's nice to see so many ladies are able to maintain a good supply at 2x. I don't even know that I should care too much about my supply by Dec or Jan, because my DD will be 13 months then. I know she'll gradually start eating more and drinking less BM over the next several months. I just want her to keep getting a decent amount of BM, at least through March or April.
