Old Doorway Jumper Safe?

Hi everyone, I have a question/potential concern. My MIL is all excited to have my son (my first child) use the Johnny Jumper that her kids used way-back-when when she watches him at her house. I would much rather she get a new one since there have been who-knows-how-many recalls on these things since then. What do you all think? Maybe I should buy her a new one and call it a gift for her? Thanks!!

i personally hate all doorway jumpers. unless you have a super wide doorway, the kids end up bouncing all over and smacking their heads and fingers and such. just not a great idea:)

that being said- if she has a super wide doorway, and it would make her happy- get a new one. i am guessing the old one is at least 20+ years old? yeah, many recalls, AND the rubber is probably so broken down.

how about a stationary bouncer? you can get a great one on craigslist pretty cheap and they are fabulous

good luck! i know it's pretty hard to explain to grandmas why these things are bad now
