Has anyone used this or know someone who has?
I am thinking about calling to see if they would help me get through school (college). I just can't handle a job and do well in classes at the same time. My grades last year were bad so BYU won't let me get a Pell Grant and so now I can't pay for this semester's tuition which means that I can't register for classes for next semester. I have no idea how to pay for my education. On the other hand, I don't know much about how Vocational Rehabilitation would work with a person with emtional psychiatric disability. I am afraid they would tell me to go in a training program for something more short term, like hair dressing or something. Or vocationally rehabilitate me by getting me a job at WalMart.
Any thoughts?

I went through Voch Rehab several years ago. I thought is was worth it at the time. I am not sure what they offer now or what they offer in your in your area. When I went they paid for a college degree but now I heard they will only pay for a certificate in something like medical assisting or computers or something on those lines. I do know they help with finding you work in what you can handle doing. They also offer job coaches to go with you to work for some time to help you with the pressures and adjustments of work. The coaches help give you support. It wouldn't hurt checking into it and you can stop at any time. Let us all know how it works out for you. Did you try to appeal their decision on not letting you in for the pell grant? I had to do an appeal before. I had to fill out a form and tell them why I should be considered for another chance for financial aid. Tell them how you will work more with a tutor that the school usually offers for free...that is other college students that help you and college tutor labs that have teachers. Talk to a guidance counselor and don't give up until you have exhausted all avenues. Someone should be able to help you so you can take classes next semester. Good luck and let us know how both turn out...Voch Rehab and appeal for financial aid. Hang in there.
