Hi Brandi. Sometimes it takes us a while to get up to posting on this board. I know I lurked for a long time before my first post. Do you mind sharing which meds you are on? Do you lean more towards mania or depression typically? Anyhow, I'm glad you are here. Your baby is beautiful!!!! Amanda
Hey Brandi and welcome! I've been bipolar since I was young too, but only medicated and dx'ed for the last 3 years. I've just now started to feel better...ugh...I do okay for a while, then go up and then down and both at the same time...but I feel pretty good right now, so I'm hoping it lasts a while. I'm glad you decided to start posting. It really helps to have people to talk to that UNDERSTAND what you go through. That loneliness thing really bites sometimes. You're not alone here!
Keep posting as much as you want and or need to. We'll talk about anything!
Thank you for the compliment about my son. I went through infertility for 4 1/2 years, got pregnant and then miscarried before I finally had Rory. I use to think bipolar was the worst thing I could personally ever go through but the miscarriage definitley out weighs it. At least for me anyway.
I lean more towards depression and now I'm also suffering from postpardom. And my mania side tends to manifest more in the anxiety range or talking a mile minute without the ability to stop. I sometimes I wish I got that pure manic moment of happiness that lasts for days or longer but that doesn't really happen for me. But the moments I have of pure bliss always ends in a crash.
I take Neurontin, Triliptal, Prozac (doc started to wean me off this during our last session together so I'll have to see what the new doc says), Effexor, Klonipin and Adavin from time to time. I don't know if I spelled all those right. Like I said, I have my very own cocktail! And I've been on about 16 others over the last 9 years.
Brandi--Sounds like you have been on all kinds of meds. I've run through a few but, I seem to stay pretty stable on one at a time. Everytime my doc has tried to add a second, it just screws me up. Anyhow, did you see the section below about the meds we have tried and what worked/didn't? You'll find many people here that are on huge cocktails....welcom to the world of bipolar, right? Glad you are here. I look forward to getting to know you. A little background on me....28, in Texas, married 9 years, 2 kids-girl age 8 boy age 3, work full time. Talk to you later. Amanda
It's so weird to hear that you are only on one med. I just thought all bipolars were on a list of meds. But then again you almost never put a bipolar on Prozac and here I am, on it LOL! My pdoc was hoping it would help with the postpardum and decided not to worry about the mania it might cause. But it's not working for me so I'm weaning off of it.
I didn't see the section of meds that you mentioned. I'll have to go check it out, it sounds interesting, thanks.
I'm only a year older than you and have been married a year longer. Was he your highschool sweetheart? Mine was. You're way ahead of me on the kids though LOL!

I am so sorry about your pdoc, I've been down that road with both pdoc and tdoc and it's no fun.
Thanks Marci for the nice welcome. I was "on paper" prepared for the fact that I'd be dealing with postpartum because I had been warned by my
