Good news! It's about time, right?!

I actually got to meet my new pdoc today. He's great, and I feel really comfortable with him. Asked me lots of questions about myself and past, and doesn't seem like the type that's just there to prescribe.

He put me back on Paxil CR (groan), and risperdal (uh-oh?). I read about the side effects from risperdal - weight gain, period/hormone probs, etc. And now I'm freaked out and don't want to take it.

Is the weight gain from increased appetite, or is it like swelling/bloating? My aunt always looked puffy from her meds, and I won't be able to handle that if it happens to me. It probably sounds vain, but I've had battles with ED's in the past, and those have nothing to do with vanity. Since I already feel really overweight, I'm really concerned about gaining any more and causing more problems for myself.

Thanks for hanging in there with me,

Hugs,
Beth

Beth,

I just realized there is a thread on Risperdal in "What's New in Health" (last section), some positive, some negative.

Hey Beth! I'm so glad to hear you sounding better and I'm glad you like your new pdoc, that makes a real difference. I was on Rispderdal for a long time, and it TRULY saved my life. Its a wonderful medicine and will stabilize your thoughts. As for the weight gain, listen to me...I too suffer from ED's...almost anorexia...now I'm 25 pounds overweight, from meds...NOT RISPERDAL though...and I have realized that I can work on my weight later...I HATE IT SO MUCH, but my life is more important.

Take the Risperdal...You will be so glad you did! And the Paxil will help you with the depression and the anxiety, so that is a good thing too.

I'm so happy for you, you'll be feeling better in no time!

HUGS!!!
