Can we do that thing where we give everyone a little background on ourselves? You don't need to participate if you don't want to, it just kind of lets us get to know everyone a little better. Amanda

My turn!
I'm Tracey, almost 33, I live in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota (brrrr). No, I do not like the cold or snow. LOL! I am the full-time single mom to a pretty dang good 9 year old dd and work full time.
I was fortunate enough to be dx'd when I was 17 after having spent close to 2 years seeing a crackpot tdoc that was doing no good for me. I was in a SERIOUS depression and finally put myself into a special inpatient program they have for teenagers (scary for my mom - she thought I was at my brother's house, I was at a psychiatric hospital making the decision!). She checked me out AMA a 36 hours after I got there and took me to our family dr. He was an old fashion gp that threw meds at EVERYTHING. He talked to me, drew some blood, did a drug test, and told her he thought I was bp and referred us to a WONDERFUL pdoc. He even called to get us a rushed appt with the pdoc. She confirmed the dx and I started seeing her weekly and taking my lithium.
After about a year, I went away to college so she referred me to a pdoc in that area, and I promptly went off all meds and stopped all treatment. (I was FINE! LOL). Skip ahead 15 or so years until I was 31! By this time my credit is destroyed, I am on the verge of losing my residence, my vehicle, my job (3rd or 4th in a year), and who knows what else. My symptoms were more severe then they had EVER been. THANKFULLY, I went and found a pdoc, my parents helped me out a LOT, and I found the board! :)
How's that for writing a novel? LOL!!
