Hi Beth,

I'm going to take a shot at this and someone else can correct me if I'm wrong. It's my understanding that voices are someone elses voices telling you something or to do something. They can even come from your TV or Radio. What you're discribing sounds more like obssessive and obtrusive thoughts to me. While they are a horror and can be caused by some level of psychosis when they are really bad, they aren't the same as hearing voices. What you discribe used to happen to me often. I used to stay up all night having these conversations over and over. I stopped sometime back. I know it was a combination of therapy and meds that stop them but, I can't remember exactly when they stopped.

Someone else was having a problem simiular to this just a little while ago maybe they can chime in too with what they're doing about it.

Love,

Jamie

Beth,

I think what you are experiencing is what I call my "tapes"!

I have this too. I hear my own voice, I'll have conversations while watching tv in my head and then not even know what I was watching. I didn't mention it before because I have always "talked" to myself and thought of it as pretty normal. I will set up thinking of what I may say to the cute guy in the elevator and I'll even think of his reply, just trying to be one step ahead....which is never me.....I'm always around 20 steps behind. I have heard voices outside of my own mind before and I still to this day swear that it was a ghost. I totally believe in the supernatural and I've literally seen them (our house was haunted when I was younger). My father one night packed us up and we were gone. He was scared to death, I was curious. But with a wife and 7 kids he didn't want to take any chances.

But.....I'm no expert, but I know it is nice to know you aren't alone. I am glad I saw your post. It sucks and it is scary sometimes when you just can't get your mind to shut up or shut down or whatever, but when I find something that works I'll sure post it here. I've tried to meditate, take a long soak in the tub, I've done a lot trying to ease my mind, most of the time it just keeps on keepin' on sometimes faster than initally. Meditating was the worst, they say to clear your mind....yeah, right huh!

I hope it goes away for you. Keep us posted.

Beth,

I agree with the others that this doesn't seem really "psychotic" - at least as far as I understand it.

Hi Morgaine,

I too feel like occationally I hear someone calling my name or I see someone out of the corner of my eye. It really gives me a start when it happens. It's my understanding though that this can happen to "normies" too. I know when it happens to me it might be a stronger feeling or more common then in "normies" but, it's not something I worry about.

Jamie
