Possible Triggers

Okay, I'm sitting here at work and just start crying like an idiot over a song. I'm not PMSing, I'm blue, but it is gray and cold here today. However, the weather doesn't play a part in bp for me, not as much as others I've read about.

I'm on paxil CR 50mg at night, and the lowest klonopin you can take. Nothing is helping me calm down. I sat quietly and just started sobbing uncontrollably. What meds am I missing? Paxil is an antidepressant right? I need a mood stabilizer big time!!!

Simple things kill me. I've swung in and out of about 5 different moods since 6am, that is 7 hours. Rapid cycling. I need to know if anyone can give me any advice. I need to call pdoc and tell him, but he usually asks me what I'd like to try since I've been on everything.....so ANY help would be so GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'm shaking and I'm about to go into a panic attack as I type this. I am so scared! I need you all right now.

If you can please talk to me.

Hi Carla. Sorry you aren't feeling well. It always scares me when a psychiatrist asks the patient what drug they would like to try. It's good to be partners in our care, but we shouldn't be treating ourselves, you know? That's why they have the medical degrees and make the big bucks. Scary. Why doesn't he/she suggest something? There's got to be something in the arsenal of psychotropics that you haven't tried, because there are TONS of meds out there, even meds that weren't initially developed as psychiatric meds, like the newer mood stabilizers (Lamictal, Topamax, Depakote were all only anti-epileptic meds initially). There are a lot more. Talk to your doc about a mood stabilizer. If you are really looking for suggestions, Lamictal is a great mood stabilizer that also works well to elevate mood, so that might be helpful. It is also weight neutral if weight gain is a concern. Topamax is good, and can cause weight loss (can be significant). Depakote can cause significant gain, but works well for mood control for some folks. There's Neurontin, also developed for another condition, but used as a mood stabilizer. There are lots. Talk to your doc. But you shouldn't have to suggest your own meds. The doctor is the one with the information (supposedly) and should be doing his/her job!

Sorry, I got off on a tangent there. I hope you feel better soon!

Marci and Kristen,
Thank you. I agree, he should know what I need, I sure as he** don't. But Marci, I do that too, but I felt the tears coming on long before the song, the song triggered the flow of tears, I cried for over 2 hours. I seriously thought, okay.....this is how it feels to go mad.

I do need a MS, the paxil isn't cutting it by itself or with the low dose of klonopin.

Well...I'm at work and I have to get back. Thank you for your replies. I greatly appreciate it.
Love and Hugs!!!!!

Thank you Traci........as I get ready to leave for the night....I feel very anxious and very jumpy inside. I'm going home, walking the dog and curling up in my bed. WV is under a big snow cloud so I'll be warm and hopefully sleeping before 7 tonight. Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will get better.
