My mother called me today from Florida and dropped the bomb that a heart attack was prevented in my Dad last night. They did some tests today and quickly discovered that he needs triple by-pass surgery. He apparantly had chest pains for 3 days before he mentioned anything to my mom about it and within those 3 days he was busting booty helping a friend lay some patio brick. Don't ask what he was thinking cause I have NO clue. One of my dad's best qualities is the way he is always the first one in line to help someone out.....this time he was super stupid about it.

Anyways, to make matters worse, my mom is recovering from surgery herself and isn't able to drive because she is legally blind (no vision in one eye at all and only 50% in the other). Last week she had a pretty bad fall and that was a huge scenario for them to deal with and now this.

My dad's doctor in Toledo wanted to fly him home for surgery and so did the attending doc in Florida. After testing they learned that he isn't even able to fly OR be transported by an air medic unit....his heart as well as him, just aren't strong enough.

Hence I'm Florida bound tomorrow afternoon. It'll be nice to get out of this cold, but I'd take the cold any day if only my dad were allright. Please say some prayers or whatever it is that your spiritual self does when someone is in need of help. I'm only 32 and my kids are young and I'm not ready to lose my Dad yet.

I won't have computer access while I'm down there, but I'll try to find some, somehow.

Thanks in advance.

Teri, My heart goes out to you. I lost my dad when I was 17 from a heart attack. I was close to my dad and I know what that loss feels like. I am so sorry your dad and your family is going through this. My prayers are with you. Many hugs your way too. Hang in there.

Love ya,

Tina~

Teri,

All I can say about the waiting 3 days to tell someone is MEN!

My prayers are with you for a safe journey. They are with your father for a safe surgery and quick recovery. They are also with the rest of your family at this hard time.

Try and let us know!

Love,

Jamie

You are in my prayers! My dad has had heart disease for years. He has had two bypasses- he had the second when I was in high school, and almost died then. At that time, he was given five years to live tops. I am happy to say that it has now been almost 16 and he is still alive and very well. Still, I remember what it was like back then- I was mentally preparing myself for his death. This was years before I became bipolar. I couldn't imagine what it would have been like if I had been dealing with that along with bipolar symptoms! I wish you the best!
